There is no set time. Each person is different and it depends on the commitment of the student and motivation to meet your goals.
Do I need certain documentation to take the exam?Yes, your case manager will walk you through registration, sign up, and how to prepare for test day.
Do I need to have dropped out before preparing for the HiSET with Youth Connections?Yes, you will have to provide verification from the last school you attended that you are not enrolled.
We don’t offer training directly. We work with community colleges, and other training vendors that offer programs. We do a comprehensive assessment with each person to decide the best training that will fit their needs, then look for the school that offers that training.
How long will it take to complete a training program?Depending on what program you attend, training can be a few months to a year.
Am I guaranteed employment after training?Your case manager will work with you to help you find a job and help you through the process of applying and interviewing.
Yes, case managers are here to help you present your skills and strengths in the best way possible. We will look at any past experience and combine that with the information we gather from the assessments.
How will Youth Connections prepare me for a career?We will help you understand the necessary skills and credentials to enter a career and help you develop a realistic plan to obtain the training you need.
Why is career readiness needed?It enhances a person’s ability to enter the workforce and/or pursue training without the need for remediation.
Can you help me get a job?Your Case Manager can assist you with the job search process and provide you with job referrals.
If you qualify for WIOA services, the internship can be paid at minimum wage.
Where are the internships?Local businesses and organizations offer opportunities to interns to help gain exposure to a field of interest.
How long will the internship last?Internships are flexible in terms of hours and length. The details will be determined between you, your case manager and the company/organization. Typically they are between 120-150 hours total.
If I don’t have money for uniforms, boots, etc. can you help??Youth Connections can assist you with cost of equipment and work clothing.

How old do I have to be?You must be 18 years old by the programs start date and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
